Standardbred Horses is a new website to showcase the versatility and beauty of the Standardbred horse. Our aim to is to encourage prospective horse owners to consider adopting a retired pacer or trotter for re-education under saddle in whatever equestrian sport they choose from pleasure riding, to dressage, showjumping, stockwork, endurance or eventing - these wonderful horses are versatile, eager and willing to please their owners who range in age from young children to riders in their seventies!

Sadly, many ex-race horses end up at the abbatoirs when their racing careers are finished, even if they are physically and mentally sound. We hope that by educating and promoting not only the breed, but also responsible horse ownership, and making it easier for trainers/owners needing to place retired racers to find good homes for them, that at least some of the standardbreds that are suitable for re-homing and re-educating under saddle will have a chance at starting a new rewarding and fulfilling career.

This website has been created as a community portal that allows Standy Fans to help promote their favourite breed by sharing their knowledge and experiences with their own standardbreds by adding to the sites articles, information, photo gallery, video gallery, available horses, classifieds section and free blogs (web diary).
