Hello Fellow Standarbred Owners,
Well let me start by introducing myself i am Heather I have 2 wonderful horses a 3yo Standardbred Gelding called Chouli he is bay with white lacing on his rump and just the most cuddly boy and a 12yo chestnut thoroughbred mare named Ducky. I live in Echuca and agist my horses iam currently breaking Chouli to saddle and about to commense the show season with Duck. Yes well thanks and such look forward to chatting

Great to have you make the first real post on the forums and I hope that you will make many more and encourage your friends to visit and discuss whatever comes to mind here so we can build up a great standardbred community

We have three Standardbreds ourselves at the moment, Tommy is 8 and Flicka is 19 and are fantastic horses. Our 3rd (Bill) also 8 (I think) is yet to be handed over to us as we are waiting for our move to the South West of WA before we take him on board. He will be mine as he is a gentle giant as I am relatively new to horses while my better half has been around horses most of her life.

Im also sorry it took me so long to reply for much the same reason too. I have actually just sold Chouli to a friend of mine to do natural horsemanship i will have to get her involved in the forums.
Its nice to talk to other with an appreciation of such an under rated breed. Im hoping to get another SB soon my plan is to travel around Aus by horse and cart. And i believe a SB will be best for it because they are so hardy. Yeah i cant think of much else to say

Horse and cart around Aus, now that would a be a really cool way to see it If you do end up doing that you might want to start up a blog of your travels, would be great reading how you go and enable us all to comment on your trip and so on

I was thinking about it. It would give me something to do and let my family and everyone know whats going on. I have just bought i wagon so its starting to feel pretty real I just need to find a suitable horse which is proving harder than i had imagined Ill let you know if i start a blog for sure.

it is great to see a site like this finally exists. There is not much out there for standardbred horses. I have so recently bought one that he hasnt arrived yet.
I think your idea to travel oz is unreal and what a way to promote the breed. Good on you. I have always owned horses but just as a pleasure thing i havent ridden in over 7 years so it will be interesting to see what happens lol. Thats why i went with a standardbred, all that i have known have been lovely and calm people friendly horses, i dont understand why more people dont own them.
